Kitchen Staples

One of the worst things that can happen when you are cooking is that you start a recipe and then realize, oh no I don’t have what I need to make this work. Here is a list of basic ingredients that you will need around the kitchen

  • frozen veggies (we go through so many bags of frozen broccoli, carrots, peas, cauliflower and sweet potatoes)
  • potatoes ( I personally do not cook with red potatoes, so typically we use russets)
  • kale
  • spinach
  • pasta (we started buying the brown rice pasta at the store, its delicious)
  • brown and white rice
  • lentils
  • black beans
  • white beans
  • butter beans
  • kidney beans
  • miso paste (I love white miso! it adds the best flavor to sauces and veggies!)
  • veggie broth (I don’t cook with a lot of oil, its amazing how much you can cook with a little broth at the bottom of the pan)
  • nutritional yeast ( hear me out, I know it sound funky but this stuff is amazing!! we add it to so many things to replace a cheesy taste)
  • cashews
  • walnuts
  • flax seed meal or flax seed
  • flour/almond flour
  • apple sauce ( weird I know but it actually binds bake goods really well)

While these are some great staples to have around some recipes will call for things not on here but it is always nice to have something to fall back on in the kitchen
